Carine Roitfeld x Karl Lagerfeld // Interview Magazine
Carine Roitfeld may not be the editor of French Vogue any longer, but this style powerhouse is still influencing fashion.
Roitfeld, which earlier this month was unveiled as the guest editor for the Barney’s catalog, has been seen freelancing as a stylist for the likes of Chanel and also working on illustrated autobiographies. (Hers, if you are wondering, is called Irreverent, will be released 4 October 2011, and is available here)
For the September issue of Interview Magazine, Roitfeld sat down to have a chat with an old friend, Karl Lagerfeld. The two, who have been friends since Roitfeld took over French Vogue in 2001, caught up on everything from beauty and the price of boundaries.

Mario Epanya’s Vogue Africa
Why is there no Vogue Africa?
Serious questions could abound from Conde Nast seemingly overlooking Africa as a fashion market. With beauties such as Iman and Liya Kebede originating from the continent that is generally considered humanity’s birthplace, it’s a considerable thought to leave it unattended in the fashion arena.
Thankfully, Mario Epanya, a Cameroon native who moved to Paris in 2000, has begun concept art photography for his version of Vogue Africa. A consistent presence in the world of beauty photography, having picked up the camera for the first time in 2008, Epanya has proved himself a very capable and talented man.
While Conde Nast still retains rights to the concept of Vogue Africa, time will tell the simple reason they have chosen to forgo this exciting opportunity.
