Swoon for MOCA’s “Art in the Streets”

To say that SWOON is an immensely focused artist is a statement no one can argue with.

Indeed, the New York-based artist has made her career through the intricacy and attention to detail of her paper cut out pieces. The pieces, which play with positive and negative space, are hand cut, and reflect people doing ordinary things in a magical world.

The piece SWOON designed for MOCA is a 15 foot immersive structure that is titled “The Ice Queen,” after the artist’s grandmother. The tent took over a month to build and allows the viewer inside the structure to view the intricate details and see the play of light against the space.
